Windows XP Service Pack 2 Hotfix 898068

Recently Microsoft has changed their support handling of Service Pack 2 related issues and requests. Weeks before you could request as many hotfixes as you wished, now only 2 for retail software versions. Additional requests are charged with 35$ each. This hotfix would only be available on request normally so I thought I share it with my blog readers. Here is the details:

Symptoms:
If you try to copy or to drag a large file to a folder, the file may be truncated to 4 gigabytes (GB) in the destination folder. This symptom occurs if the following conditions are true:
• You try to copy or to drag a large file to a folder in a Windows Explorer window or a folder on the desktop.
• The file data is provided in the CFSTR_FILECONTENTS clipboard format through an IStream interface.

This update fixes a bug in the Shell32.dll system file. The new version number is 6.0.2900.2688 compared to original SP2 which is 6.0.2900.2180. The file is dated June 1st. Click the headline for the download.
